What would be the safest choice of facts recovery?

This is RecoveryDataFAQ.com backgroup history of problem:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;…

I have cause to believe these are the safest options:

a) Remove the hard-drive, join it to another functional unit and verbs all the notes to external portable hard-drive. Once data is secured, next do a complete re-install of operating system on problem computer.

b) Create Windows startup disk, use disk at startup effectively bypassing the "broken" startup files. Once into computer, manually move important background to external portable hard-drive.
http://articles.techrepublic.com.com/510… (Option #1)

Does this second option risk any further problems or loss of facts? I can't risk the loss of any data.

What is my safest remedy? I am under no time-contraints to do any option. Either management would be performed by knowledgable computer techie.

Any optional comments or things to be aware of?

You have not said what the problem is.. is the system not booting up.

DON'T steal the drive out and put it with another drive, you could lose the MBS (master boot sector) on the drive you want the files sour. if that happens you've lost everything,

I hold a DOS GUI (Graphical User Interface) Boot disk program that will do the job.. you can see everything your doing.

choice a) is safer, if you append your hard drive to another computer correctly. i aim make sure of slave/master select. during unplugin and plugin your hard drive move it slowly to protect it from physical interfere with.
but if you cant do it correctly better use b).
After this, backup your data to an external HDD. You should also create backup, on DVD's
I say A) slave it within another working machine. If that doesn't work thieve it to a data recovery place and permit the experts deal beside it. They will do a free diagnostic and determine what the problem is. http://www.cbltech.com
data recovery for a crashed operating system or complicated drive....well the safest and best is other copy the info or use ghost to clone the drive to another working drive. after reinstall the operating system a fresh...as the old operating system could own had a worm that kill the drive
use system restore as it works better now next it ever did
