One you can't run a DOS aplication in Win XP lacking help of another software of microsoft. If you can boot than this is a reliable advise. Run a portable antivirus for that report. Portable software are those who does not need installation on PC but simply run from Pen drive & scan or verbs registry or tweak system & what not. Than write on a CD/DVD. Now format xp & install OS & all programs, but be sure that aplications S/W does not own any antivirus. Now attach your Pendrive to your PC & scan them with your updated Antivirus & anti spyware. If you find one & you own Win XP SP 2 than simply copy them & they will not be able to infect your system till you open out them. Before opening scan them & delete them.
Remove this disk from your mechanism. Get and inexpensive disk and mount it in the aged disk's place. Do a clean XP install to the current disk. Install the old disk as a second drive. Boot up and favourably copy what you need to the strange drive or to an external, thumb drive or whatever. Then remove the artificial partition from the older drive and reestablish and reformat.
Hopefully, good as hot!
You can use windows diskmgmt, but I use Norton Partition Magic. Very jammy and safe to use.
try scan the partition near anti virus software and get the virus removed
If I were you I would pinch that HDD out and plug it into another computer [being sure this one has clad anti-virus software]. Once in the different computer you can turn it on - then surrounded by My Computer you should be able to see adjectives of the files you need on the latest drive. [D:\ E:\ ... etc]
See if you can locate a copy of an old program call diskedit that was orignally segment of the Peter Norton tools. If that fails any other diskeditor that permitts reading of the disk minus OS supervision. There are also programs that allow the reading of a disk that is ID'd as RAW. The program will obligation to have the capacity to move the problem to another disk. If you can find someone that will make you a 98 boot disk that will seize you around the OS that is on the Primary boot disk.
One entity I have done that works great is to put your tricky drive as a secondary thorny drive in a computer to be precise not infected. From there you can without risk scan for viruses or even posterior up info and then reformat the drive.
Download a copy of Knoppix ( linux),, next set your computer to boot to the cd first. It will load Knoppix resting on your o/s the desktop will look a little different but you will be capable of click on the hard drive statue, then you put a usb push button in and move the files you want to the knob.
