Best Mac notes recovery software?

Hi there,
I've be poking around for data recovery software for the mac. I hold a hard drive which have a corrupted file system. (I'm a computer technician, but i'm doing this for a mate of mine, and I don't typically deal next to macs) Its a mac drive, so i'm assuming that I will need software for the mac, unless here is software that runs under window that I can use. I've been poking around, but notes recovery software for the mac looks pretty dead. Does anyone on here know of any correct software titles that are effective? (preferably recover some of the files system too, RAW recovery is not preferred)
