Is it expected that a background recovery firm will appendage over my friend's concrete drive to the official or forget about it?

My friend's hard drive just now failed to verbs reading and has have to opt for the option of hand it to a data recovery firm since this is the simply way he can win it replaced (Western Digital have specified partner they work with - other companies that work on the drive will result surrounded by the warrant becoming void). Anyway, he has a few bits of prohibited software, videos etc. Is it probable the data recovery company will foot it over to the officials or can he without risk trust them to ignore it? He's from the UK by the instrument, as am I.

They do have a must to report illigal activities using computers.
What I don't obtain, there are utilities out at hand that he can recover the data from the tough drive himself. Also, what is on there that he can't re-download? Call it a loss and verbs.

EDIT: I had a rugged drive that didn't appear on My Computer, but the recover software did see it and recovered my files.
