Data recovery issue. Need to undelete.?

Hey there,
I reghosted my GFs notebook last month using the dell recovery compact disc, but there be some files that were not back up.

I had kept a copy on my laptop till recently, but shift-deleted it, and probably downloaded over it.

I've tried to undelete from my workstation with a quantity of tools, but when they recover the files, they're all gibberish code. Is that gibberish code in actuality the word document that I'm looking for, or just what currently sits at it's address (IE music, etc.). And is at hand a way to fix that code put money on into english.

If it's not possible for me to do, is in that a service or company that I can contact?

Thanks
Eric
