Have window 98. Can I use my window xp recovery & applation disk to up echelon to window xp.?

If I have a Win 98 machine, I would meditate long and hard earlier trying to upgrade it to XP - my advice is to pocket a long hard look and compare CPU type and speed, RAM size, type and speed, HDD size and speed.
