Can I use an external firm drive to affix more disk space to my C drive AND Recovery D drive on Windows Vista?

I only hold a little bit of disk space not here and when I try to clean it it never works so any recommendation for any external hard drive will one be capable of put more disk space on both my disk drives? please help i want to upgrade my computer but I can't until I bring more disk space! HELP!! Is this one fine?
