Can you buy modern recovery disks for a macbook?

why i ask is because, i want to buy a new macbook from ebay and some of the upright deals dont include the recovery disks. so can i buy fresh disks from apple or do i have to update or what?
thx
"> I've read that you can decree replacement recovery discs directly from Apple:

1-8OO-APL-CARE (1-8OO-275-2273)

You can also try buying them from Ebay. Make sure that you get the discs made specifically for your model, or you can return with the full commercial version of Leopard and that should work fine. With Snow Leopard, you'll entail to buy the Snow Leopard kit, or so I've hear, as the $29 Snow Leopard upgrade disc alone will not do what you're looking for it to do.

I was surrounded by a similar boat when I bought my iBook from Ebay last year. Great computer, but the restore discs be for Panther, and I needed Tiger. I ended up buying a replacement G4 iBook restore disc set which have Tiger (my model was produced both back and just after Tiger come out, so that worked well for me). I remember reading that if I bought the full commercial magazine of Tiger or Leopard that would have worked too. I found the restore discs for cheaper though, so I go with those. Restored my iBook beside them and they worked like a charm.

I own noticed that several seller on Ebay don't include restore discs with their Macbooks which is bothersome, as Apple includes them when you purchase a strange or refurbished Macbook (unlike most PC manufacturers which usually do not include restore discs anymore).

Overall, you own a few options, but you also can choose to bid simply on auctions that include the restore discs, or write to the seller prior to the close of the auction to ask if the restore discs are included, as some don't state it contained by their ad. That's what I would do anyway.
I regard you can just buy the trial $29 Snow Leopard 10.6 and use that. The mac MUST be intel based for that to work. If not, you can buy cheap mac disks past its sell-by date of ebay. Stick with any mac os disk from 10.4 to 10.5 or 10.6 depending on the type of mac you return with. You can get mac disks 10.1 to 10.3, but those come out from 2000 to 2005 so they are not so up to date.
