Two laptops, one recovery disk?
i have to different laptops but ive lost one of the recovery disks and i want to reinstall vista on the one ive not get the CD for. Is it possible to use the recovery disc from a different laptop as long as you use the windows vista code that's on the underneath of the laptop im installing it on?
first it would be evil. remember 1 license per pc?
second i dont that that it works that course. unless both pc own the same dividing wall. you can use acronis true image to backup the together c drive of your good workstation, then reformat the second notebook and partition it beside the same dividing wall as the first pc. after restore the whole c drive, using the backup of the first workstation. i think this can work. but you have need of a windows installer to reformat your second notebook. you can use windows xp for this.
No. You requirement the exact recovery disk for the machine. The other one will hold a copy of Vista which does not match the knob, and will have totally different drivers for the hardware, even if you survive to make it nouns the machine will crash next to a blue screen error due to driver conflicts near the hardware.
"> if it was a retail disk afterwards it would work but oem disks do not work 98% of the time as some machines are rebranded. also it is 1 license per machine if respectively had their own license next you could install.
