Question on burning Windows XP Home Edition Recovery Disks?

My Windows XP Home Edition had an risk of burning 5 disks in a series that can be used for system recovery. I have 9 CDs available for this. I successfully burned the first 4, but when I get to the fifth one, none of the CDs work. One disc I actually put surrounded by starts to act similar to its going to work, and then make a weird clap and freezes up the computer. On one CD I have, I put a couple of pictures on it, but now, the computer is unfolding me that two or three of the CDs have something on it, when I lone burned one picture CD, and zilch else. What could have gone wrong here?
Answers:
If they are CD-RW disks, format and erase everything on that disk. Then it should work.
