Recovery disk change?

I just wipe everything out and ran the recovery disk to straighten out my laptop. Everything so far, seem fine..except one small annoying thing.

The icon on desktop and tool bars are not sharp, or to some extent smooth and clear. They are jagged looking (like the hoary PAC MAC (hehe) used to look.

Can you tell me how to fix the appearance?

I cogitate you need to install the video card driver, but if you've already done that, try to devolution the color to 32-bit in desktop properties.
