Can you restore window xp near recovery disk after formatting tough drive?

I need to reinstall Windows XP because my frozen drive is severely infected and nothing I've tried get all the virus out. Besides it seems the infection have damaged some of the system files.

Now after I fence and reformat the hard drive, do I entail the complete windows xp installation disks or can I use the recovery disks from the businesswoman (HP) to get spinal column Windows?
