Put recovery disk 1 in the laptop..turn it on.

I assume you want to rebuild the system--reload the OS. The recovery disk should be bootable. That is, you put it within your CD/DVD drive and reboot. The prompts from there head you through the recovery process. NOTE: this process will wipe your drive clean of any existing programs, files, pictures--EVERYTHING and reinstall a bed OS. You'll still need to achieve the update process to bring your system back up to date--and reactivate it.
