How do I use my recovery disks and/or spinal column up disks to retrieve music and picture files?
We used the iolo System Mechanic, and it caused us to lose everything on the computer, including Windows...It still shows that the c drive and d drive are at matching capacity as in the past losing everything, and I have recovery disks and backup disks save from before, but I cannot give the impression of being to get everything hindmost. Also, my boyfriend plays World of Warcraft...will it override whatever might still be surrounded by the harddrive if he reinstalls it, or will it take up more space?...thankfulness in finance.

You might try Hiren's boot cd. It has several database recovery applications.
If you re-install Windows, it will be re-formatted ( as in written over )
Did you try System Restore first ?
ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS BACK UP

- why must folks linger for disaster before they realize how celebrity their music, files, pics are.
I highly doubt System Mech. cause this - especially losing Windows. I run Sys. Mech. on several computers and not a glitch with any of them.
Look at what you previously installed until that time this happened.
I hope you didnt use the wipe drive function surrounded by Sys. Mech.
Unless you clicked 'YES' to do one of these Wipe Drive actions contained by Sys.Mech. would you lose your HD contents.
Recovery discs - put them into the drive and follow what it says - it may be Repair pick or a Recover option. Follow the instructions it give. There are quite a few recover database programs out there too.
If he re-installs WOW - it will not clutch up more space, it'll just travel over what you had. You may want to un-install it properly next re-install if need be.
His description should be fine.
But look what else was installed or removed earlier this all happen - try System Restore.
Remove unwanted programs the proper way thru Control Panel.
The recovery disks will probably not restore any My Documents or your applications, including Warcraft.
Reinstalling Warcraft will overwrite damaged files on the drive but you could recover destabilized data if you use a background recovery program before installing Warcraft. I recommend Restorer 2000 pro which costs USD50. The price may or not be worth it to you but it is reuseable.
The recovered background will be in strangely name folders but will be all here. Check the data, move it to properly name folders on your working drive, reinstall Warcraft and any other programs you need and reformat the shabby drive. As the damaged drive is still electronically functional, you should know how to reinstall Windows and your programs.
