My lapout lost it's OS. The recovery disk is lost. How can I procure it up and running. I hold a copy of skylight XP

You can start the Laptop with the XP disk surrounded by the DVD drive and it should boot to the CD automatically and pass you a couple of options one is repair try this first and it may repair your XP installation on your Laptop. If that doesn't work you can choose the install route but that will erase everything on your Laptop, but it will install XP and get you up and running but you will involve to download a lot of drivers from HP close to the sound and video and WIFI drivers. If it doesn't boot to the disc restart the Laptop (with the XP cd in the drive) and keep hold of hitting the F8 key for boot option and choose boot from CD.
