I am looking for a freeware disk recovery utility, specifically for recovering files from window.?
A friends computer crashed and i need to recover alot of files from the not easy drive.

there are a few ways you could do this. the easiest path would be to boot from a live linux cd and mount the drive that the files are located on. then you can verbs important files to an external drive.
it's importantly unlikely that the his files are gone. while i'd need to know more roughly what happened, likelihood are he probably just can't boot into window. if that's the case, the folder system on the drive as a whole is probably still accurate and you can just boot into another operating system and attain the files off of it that route.
