Reformating a computer in need a recovery disk?

I have a dell inspiron (#?). It's getting a bit old and started acting wonky so I reformatted it. I have no recovery disk so I used a copy of windows XP professional service pack 2 I get from school. Unfortunately it seem no less wonky. It does plentiful things fine but the sound and directX control doesn't work. It have a wireless card that also doesn't work. I've loaded all the requisite drivers I can find but it didn't solve its problems. i mull over I just involve the original recovery disk but I don't know be to find one. any suggestions? thank you.
