Can I use more recovery disk on my friends laptop?

My friend owns an HP Laptop. Recently, his laptop havent been competent to boot after he logs in. This Message shows:

The application have failed to start because WININET.dll be not found.

I own an HP laptop as well. Can I use my recovery disk surrounded by his HP Laptop? Both of our operating systems are XP
Answers:
if it is the same xp. if yours is xp pro and his is xp medium center then no.
Yes if it is like peas in a pod model number but that will reinstall the OS, so they will have to rescue what files they want. An easier solution would be to copy the missing file from your disc and bond it to the system 32 file surrounded by their COMPUTER
First of all try:

loading surrounded by Safe Mode?

1. Tap F8 as you are booting up. A menu should come up.

2. First try the option which would read out something about the Last Best Configuration.

3. If you hold no luck with #2, try #1 again but this time choose Safe Mode.

4. If you muddle through to get into Windows use System Restore. To do this:

1. Go to Programs
2. Accessories
3. system tools
4. system restore

Find a restore date since your problems started.

THEN

If the above doesn't work you could try your Recovery disk but yours contains the specific drivers for your computer and not his unless they are identical. Also some recovery disks do not contain the OS but you inevitability them to boot up to access the partition which HP make.

HOWEVER

normally adjectives you need to do is to check the bootup prompts (F10 maybe) to enter the dividing wall (if it is still there) which contains the Operating System as well as the drivers for that exceptional laptop..
They must be the same model and equipped exactly matching. Besides that, you will certainly go and get flagged from Microsoft when you go to do Windows updates because of WGA.
Unless the you and your Friends' laptop is from like peas in a pod manufacture series, it would be inadvisable. Your hardware will to dissimilar to that of your friends computer.
