How can I re-install Windows XP lacking the recovery disk?
I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop from 2006, I am not sure of the model number. I necessitate to re-install Windows but I do not have the recovery disk. My father is refuse to let me into his house to receive any of my things so I have no course to get it. Is here any way I can do it myself or will I hold to take my computer to a shop? If so, how much do you surmise it will cost?

Either use the "reboot then press the f 11 key" or buy a copy of window from wally world . . . XP is about $98. Vista is $200.
you can capture another copy of windows and use the license switch that should be on the computer base somewhere.
if you can install the grating driver/wireless driver you should be able to draw from the rest of the drivers off the internet.

First, try calling Toshiba's customer aid and ask them to send you a recovery disk...
Second, restart the laptop,and a moment ago as the laptop is restarting; repeatedly press the F11 Key until you're taken into the Recovery Program (a.k.a. System Restore) and confirm your actions...immediately follow the on screen instruction to detail...

Windows is not reinstalled from a recovery disk. It can recover an existing installation. So do you want to reinstall or recover?
You really involve a disk, ideally your disk.
You can use someone else's disk, but it probably won't accept the push button printed on your computer label.
Beyond that, you're stuck buying a up to date XP disk, or downloading a free OS like Ubuntu at www.ubuntu.com
You could also try cleaning up your system next to something like Avast! Home from download.com and malware bytes from www.malwarebytes.org if you are have infection problems.
You could also try a system rollback. Restart, hit F8 when you see the manufacturer logo, and select undisruptive mode. Then hit Help from the start menu and do a system restore (rollback) to a date when it worked ok.
