Where can I find a recovery disk for my IBM Thinkpad 2645-31U?
I am in obligation of a recovery disk in lay down to restore my old laptop stern to original factory setup. I am wanting to administer the laptop to my niece for use with university work. Its still really great to use for the internet and typing papers for class. I have even used it near DSL.
Currently the laptop doesn't want to load window. It comes up to the windows startup blind then restarts the laptop and starts over again. Its a complete loop of impossible to tell apart thing.
The system board, memory, peak, HD and everything else checks out fine.
If anyone knows where on earth I can find a copy of a factory recovery disk please let me know.
Thank you,
Mark

You can download from Lenovo (bought IBM Thinkpad line), but you should also own the recovery partition. If you enjoy a blue "ThinkVantage" button, hit that while booting. If you don't have it, your "Enter" button should be blue, and will serve the liberate function.
It will take you to the recovery fence.
That is an old system.
You could try digging on the Lenovo support site for that system:

But I would suspect that it is not at hand. You could try calling the IBM/Lenovo help center and seeing if they still enjoy the disks for this machine, but you may economically be out of the 7 year support window. If you hold them you will have to salary for them.
Other alternatives would be to put a version of Linux onto it. There are some drastically lightweight versions out near and will typically be more responsive than the Windows that your system came near.

Or you could retire this system and get her a Netbook computer that will do adjectives that your 600 will do and more, and much faster, and come in colours save for black:
