How can I recover Windows Vista? D2D Product Recovery Disk lost?

One of my friend bought a laptop with real Vista Operating System Installed. Now unfortunately he lost the D2D product recovery disk. Now system is crashed and cannot recover operating system. How can I oblige him to recover ? If he has to buy another setup disk that will cost him too much. Since his laptop is unsullied and with license.
