How do I create a recovery disk for IBM ThinkPad T42?

I have no disks for my IBM ThinkPad T42, and want to know how to create a recovery disk should anything run wrong with my system.
I know you can do it beside most computers now as they don't supply the disks within the box you have to formulate it yourself.

Is this possible with an IBM?

Thank you!
Answers:
First of adjectives, stop buying things that take smarts to operate, purely use a pin and paper, that path you might be able to operate these items.
