Can I download a recovery disk for my desktop computer somewhere?

I tried to connect my desktop to my tv using a dvi cable. It didnt work and I have swicthed put money on to vga. When I turn on my computer a black screen near some writing appears. Its attempts to boot up but then fail saying something resembling system error insert system cd .

I presume this means insert recovery disk however I dont own one.Is there anyway I can catch round this by perhaps downloading a recovery disk?
Answers:
If you bought it different and it didnt come with a disk, it most expected has a recovery screen. Read the manual on how to recover.
If within is no recovery, you can borrow a disc, as long as it is the same as your own operating system i.e. xp pro, xp home or vista.
This is assuming you enjoy your windows serial code on a sign, on the side/ back of your laptop.
Your code will look something like this.

GHW5R-JT3DW-BGY5D-M7FRS-DRQT7
You can seize a disc from the manufactuers customer and technical support, you wont within all likeliness know how to download it but they will give you an address to distribute off for a recovery disc, they will have need of, your machines serial numbers and model numbers etc
