Stupid tech guy upgraded my laptop to sp3 (what an idiot) and very soon i can't recover beside my recovery disk. sustain?
okay. when i reboot the computer tells me that i cannot reboot due to the certainty that my computer is running windows 98. the damn entry is windows xp and have the stupid sp3 upgrade. when it had sp2 i didn't own this problem.
i think the nfm techie go into a third party site and downloaded a bleak version of sp3 and not from microsoft itself.
facilitate?
Can you even get into Windows usually or through safe mode. If you can jump to add/remove programs menu. Normally Service Pack 3 can be uninstalled. Personally I don't believe a Tech guy did that.
Second if you have the Windows XP disk, set the computer BIOS to boot from cd and reinstall your Windows. You will lose everything and probably entail to download the drivers for your computer and install them.

or try to remove via add and remove
best bet would be to do this contained by safe mode Source(s): you could also try a system restore
"> Sounds close to you need to flatten your laptop and reinstall everything. Go ahead and backup anything that you can first.
Oh, and SP3 isn't a desperate thing. I've have the best luck with the compact disc version of the update - do a hunt for windows xp sp3 iso microsoft.com on google and it should be the first hit.
BTW, if NFM mode Nebraska Furniture Mart, that was your first mistake. The sale people don't know much in the region of the computers they sell (except what manufacturer tell them), and the tech desk is even smaller amount qualified to work on computers than the sales inhabitants.
I Think your system corrupted because of the in-compatibility system upgrade. Try system repair with the window 98 installer you use.
Or Reformatting your computer would be great. But back up files 1st.
