Anyone own your rugged drive disintegrate? I'm wondering how much to recover information on my HD.?

Hello, I understand unyielding drives are mortal creatures, and yes, I should have back up my data. I own a 120 Gb external hard drive that go kaput. I tried Norton, Data Rescue, Disk Warrior (I'm using a mac) -- nothing. If you hold any further suggestions on retrieving my data myself, even better. Otherwise, I meditate I'm screwed and might look into the services of a data recovery firm (but I'm a broke college student not looking to shell out a ton of cash). I'm hoping to seize a ballpark of how much this might cost me. THANKS

Most don't check external drives, however a free one does, it's called Recuva.

Disintegrate? Was Marvin the Martian involved? The motor stops turning properly or the arm beside the read write needle operate wheres out try tapping it or shaking it
most complicated drive recoverys start at $150-$500 and go up depending on the amount of information recovered. Try OnTrack for recovery also. A trick I use a lot is to wrap the drive surrounded by a towel and freeze it (yes, in a freezer) for 12-18 hours. Take it out and without beating about the bush plug it in and see if you can retrieve the facts. Had to freeze on twice to get it adjectives but it works about 50% of the time. Good Luck.

I used a background recovery service one time for a client who lost critical data on a laptop easier said than done drive. They fully recovered 99.946% of files from the drive. It cost about $1,500 and be well worth it to my client.
