Is at hand any software (preferably freeware) that can recover background from a crashed unyielding drive
I have a current hard drive and tried putting the weak one in a sa slave but it doesn't make out it. would like to try and recover some files earlier trashing it completely. I see lots of software for undeleting but that isn't the problem.

Sorry but I don't think at hand is any tool for recovering lost data from a crashed strong drive.
I don't know what the data is worth-I bought something approaching in the association,that you can use for a IDE,SATA,CD/DVD drives.OK it costs $25-but you can use it for all drives
The answer on top is good-it might also work? But if your HDD is really shot,with the sole purpose a pro can get your background back and that costs you $$$.
Did you put your aged drive on the same cable as your modern one? Try to put it on your DVD/CD cable as slave and disconnect your CD/DVD just to try it. Source(s): http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/…
I resembling to use Knoppix which is a linux operating system that can fit on a bootable cd. I just boot from cd and consequently mount the drive when linux comes up and copy the files over to a flash drive or external hard drive (although if you plug these surrounded by while it's booting it can hang for some reason). Not sure if that would work though since the slaving didn't work. Worth a shot though!
