Trying to recover information from crashed HDD using SATA usb docking station - is adjectives my information gone?

My laptop's (Compaq Presario) hard drive crashed, so I bought an SATA HDD USB docking station surrounded by order to see if I could retrieve any background from the drive. I have it adjectives hooked up, the drive shows up, but when I try to explore it, an error message pops up that says it's not accessible and : "The record or directory is corrupted or unreadable."

Does this mean that in attendance is no possibility of data recovery, or is in attendance something else I'm supposed to be doing that might help the process?

Thank you so much for any aid.

I'd go ahead and try to run a Check Disk (chkdsk) on the drive. It's fairly possible that the file structure of the drive is a short time ago fragged. Maybe you'll get lucky and that will fix it. You can also download and run Hiren's Boot disc, http://www.kaldata.net/modules.php?modid=1&action=show&id=579 . Run the diagnostics for your hard drive capitalist and see what exactly the problem is. If your drive is OK by your manufacturers diagnostic, run the Seagate Disk Diagnostic, even if your drive isn't Seagate, and run the File Structure exam. If it comes back next to a bad wallet structure, you may have lost adjectives data (if the chkdsk didn't fix it), but your sturdy drive is still good and you can at lowest put a fresh load of Windows on here. I am assuming that you have a computer running since you wrote this, hopefully it have a CD burner and you hold a blank CD sitting around. :) tolerate us know how it goes!

It's probably not recoverable as it sounds resembling you're doing everything right. Your only odds is to send the drive to a information recovery service. Keep in mind such service will expected cost $500 or more.
