Best software for recovering background from corrupted harddisk?
My external hard disk have got corrupted. But I get valuable information inside it. Before replacing it, I would like to recover the facts. Do you know any good software for doing it.

I hold a good software which I enjoy personally used and worked great for me.... lamentably I cannot recollect its name... hold to look up on my terabite disk. Just leave ur email address to benignantbiotech(a)rediffmail.com near subject line tough disk recovery...

before I finish.. a word of circumspection.. just dont tough your rock-hard disk and do anything to it... do not try to retrieve data or anything... jsut unplug and hold it safe... and when you try to recover the notes... install the recovery software in a stand alone computer / laptop and enjoy a spare disk which can backup ur restored data.
Always creat an portrait file of your corrupt disk to take better results...

You can use the Ubuntu live cd. and use dd to take a lightly cooked image of the drive, and consequently you can try and repair it.

ddrescue is basicly the only article that will let you try and copy notes to a new place (ddrescue will copy as much as it can read from one place to another) and after you can repair that filesystem on a working hard disk and hopefully after you will be able to mount your drive.
