Turn the computer off, pop surrounded by the windows disk, next turn it on it will start the setup process. It will detect that windows is still nearby. press D to delete the partition, L to confirm the delete, later when it goes spinal column it will say "unpartitioned space" hit enter, and it will ask you how to format it. Make sure to do a Complete Format NTFS, not spur-of-the-moment format. This one takes closely longer and truely formats it.
Makes me wonder why you would want to do that... :) Theoretically it is impossible to do that because you can always reverse the erasing algorithm... First delete what you don't want to be found and next fill up that extraordinary drive with something you don't mind self found... So that you overwrite the deleted stuff... Then delete the stuff which you simply copied so that the previously delete data is completely lost and you own your hard disk space wager on... Paragon Disk Wiper does a low level format that will ensure no facts can be retrieved at all. I enjoy tried it myself and then used a Data Recovery software and zilch can be recovered.
To safely erase the entire disk, try "Active Killdisk". They hold a free version which over-writes your entire disk next to zeroes and a remunerated version which is more thorough and can run sundry even more secure over-writes beside multiple passes. Note that there are different version (Windows and DOS) I have used the DOS book as I am not sure the Windows version really kill everything: Windows has a obnoxious habit of keeping pro tem files - page files etc which can't be properly cleaned while Windows is running.
As for free vs paid: Unless you own national secrets on your gadget, the free version should be fine.

This will nuke adjectives the data on your easier said than done disk(s) forever. Make sure you do it more than once. It can do an NSA wipe by overwriting 1's and 0's 500 times. You may want to take a afternoon or so to let it really do the duty.

why dont you format to linux ext3 which is better then install Ubuntu 9.04 create partition as per your choice.
All your saved facts will be lost forever as this format is niether FAT32 or NTFS
