How can I recover background from prehistoric knotty disk drive?

My computer crashed a while back and I want to know if I can somehow use the concrete disk drive to get the frail data past its sell-by date (and on to my laptop). Is this possible. I'm not very learned when it comes to the guts of computers.
Answers:
Buy an USB external HDD enclosure, remove the outdated drive from the computer, and install into the case. (This will be markedly obvious once you sympathetic the case) there is a leap on the HDD labled CS SL and MS make sure the drop is configured to CS (cable select). Plug the enclosure into your latop and recover the background if it is salvagable.
