Depends what's wrong with it.

If it spins, but you can't access anything from it, it may be the on the ship controller card (the printed cricuit board attached to the drive). If you have another of one and the same drives around, you can take the controller board bad of it, put it on the bad drive and try it. I've be successful a number of times by doing this.
They are most promising lost. You can take it to Best Buy and they will charge you $56 to see if they CAN do it. and if they can, they will charge you another $265 to certainly do it. Source(s): It happened to me. Sucks.
at hand are certain software available similar to GETDataBack and there is an added dos based utility. i dont remember the describe.

keep contained by mind that there is no fool proof facts recovery system. there are also professionals who can recover notes from the hard disk.
That depends on what you suggest by broken. If it simply became corrupt, you could set it up as a slave drive on another workstation and find and copy data, if its a powered failure, it may still be done but very soon youre talking paying someone.
It depends on how destroyed it is, you can own it taken appart and the files moved but from i know its a real expensive piece to do. Maybe someone else knows a easy/cheap channel
What problem does your hard drive hold?

If it cannot be detected, you can try replacing its board from a drive of SIMILAR MAKE AND MODEL

Its located underneath the drive.

You need a torx screw driver (similar to those used contained by cellphones)

Remove the screws holding down the board from both working and defective easier said than done drives. The board is quite flowing to detach.

Connect the board from the working drive to the problematic one.
