How can i recover notes from an external firm drive that have stopped working?

asking it nicely to resume work and promise foot increase
It depends on what you mean by stopped working. Your best bet is to disassemble the covering, and set the drive as a slave. Then, hook the drive up into your computer via the IDE cable. If the drive does not spin, or starts making some clicking noises, you will stipulation a data recovery company to recover your notes. If the drive spins, and you don't see your files or windows asks to format the drive, you can try Runtime's GetDataBack, but your best bet will be a background recovery company.

DO NOT ever tap, shake, bump, or stick the drive surrounded by freezer. If you don't care give or take a few getting the data on the drive posterior, however, feel free to do so. You really call for to assess what the data is worth to you. The more technique you try, including the improper ones I purely listed, the smaller amount chance you will hold at getting your data wager on. Data recovery companies are your best bet, but charge anywhere from $100-$3,000 depending on the issue. Only use ones with free evaluations. I am surrounded by the Southeast and you can email if you would like more info on the best companies or facts recovery in broad.
duel's suggestion can't be serious but Slick's isn't so bad if the tough drive has by design failed, i.e. it no longer rotates.

Before messing near it yourself, decide the convenience of the data to you and contact data-recovery firms: they're imagined to do a better job. I'm assuming that it have mechanically substandard rather than purely lost data. You've immediately got to try to attain it working again for long enough to remove the notes, so tap it, shake it, turn it upside down, put it contained by the freezer, just disappear it and come back a fortnight next: it sometimes works! It did have a document of suggestions but I can't find it and Internet searches supply where the drive have just lost facts rather routinely failed. If the former is the crust just do a pattern search for information recovery software.

Good luck!
Take the drive case apart and conect the drive directly to your PC later use some recovery software to analyse the drive and hopefully you will get your stuff backbone.

I assume by not working you indicate no power or it does not conect using the cable provided.
I've seen advert in computer mags for a box into which you can insert a hard-drive (sata or pata) and connect via firewire or usb to your computer.
put it as a slave contained by another pc later u can look at everything on the drive....unless its really messed up but usually u can... then u can in recent times move what u want off of it .....
