Can i recover my information from unformulated disk?

i was installing linux, but by mistake i chose entire device for installing, due to this my previous OS (windows XP) is delete and cant install linux also.
But when i reinstalled XP, than only C and D drive is showing. when i am clicking on D drive it requires format the drive.
Plz update me HOW can i recover my all notes, i ave some important facts.? Should i format first before running recovery tool or after format.
"> Do NOT FORMAT THE DRIVE!
If you own the data somewhere else , step ahead a format the whole drive, than creat 2 partition, and use "dual boot" to have 2 OS's.
It own the data, try to creat a small 3rd fence and use some software like "divider magic" to clone the data from the weak partition to the tentative, or just to create a dividing wall wall. Source(s): www.superputers.net
