Recover background from formatted linux barrier?

I had a Fedora core 5 installation next to xp dual boot. many files be stored in the Linux. Later I reinstalled Fedora on indistinguishable machine by formatting the existing Linux hedge. Is there any process to recover the old files surrounded by the previous Linux? It is very urgent.....Please comfort.....

If you format a drive/partition ALL information is lost.

Run, Ubuntu (live).Since the computer will run without the firm drive... you should be able to extract files to an external drive via usb or firewire. Ubuntu is free. Source(s): Practice.
