How do I recover notes from a formatted HDD?

I have an 80 Gb rugged disk which had roughly 60 Gb of data and be formatted accidentally. After formatting, data be added to it. I now want to recover the previous 60 Gb of data. How can I recover this information and what data recovery software will do it?
