Is here any bearing to recover information lost from an external thorny drive?

My son has lost his entire semester's work while have his external hard drive connected while attempting to install the up to date Windows. It's an Apollo 2.5" Portable HDD if that makes any difference. And no, he didn't hold any backup. Hard lesson to be learnt, but if you could bestow any help it would be appreciated.

You might try recuva, the join for it is here http://www.piriform.com/recuva . It's a free , easy to use program. I've used it to recover notes after a reformat before. Good Luck
Try Recuva, it's free. It can recover files if they haven't be overwritten Source(s): http://www.piriform.com/recuva
