How do you recover notes from a bleak rock-hard drive?

Answers:
rretorts knows exactly how to do it. Source(s): Computer Tech
Some programs can do this but they are not immensely reliable & companies charge for this service but it is (very) expensive.
If the drive itself is bad it will inevitability professional help and that can be expensive... If you are not sure what the problem is and want to try a few smaller amount costly alternatives, here are a few to try...

Remember, these will not work if the drive itself is damaged... These will solitary work if it was a software, hedge or some other type of non physical damage (dropped from a table onto a concrete floor cause the insides to become off track is physical impair even if you cannot see it)...

To recover...

Remove hard drive from skin...

Place into external drive case or buy a USB cable that works beside SATA / IDE / EIDE 40 and 44 pin hard drives... This is the one that I use... around $25

Afterwords, see if the drive can be read as an external drive...

If it can be read, Great...

If not, then you can try a software recovery...

There may be freeware alteratives out at hand (actually I know there are) but the one that I own had the best luck next to is Filerecovery Professional http://www.lc-tech.com/software/frprodet… which goes for $99.99... But they do own a download so that you can "try before you buy" to see if it will work for you... Once you see if it recovered your files you can purchase it... If it did not recovery your files, I guess you will hold to post again to find other possible solutions...

$125 for the cable and software, I guess you will have to determine how much your notes is worth... I have used the cable for multiple tough drives when I only needed pro tem access and did not want to fool around with a casing... The cable can come in handy when you least possible expect it to...

Just do not try to recover the data to alike hard drive... You will over-write the facts and possibly case notes loss...

Last thing... This software is time consuming depending on the computer that you use to run it... I did a 40GB drive one time and it took more or less 24 hours... Be patient and after give or take a few 5-10 minutes the program will tell you how long it desires to complete the recovery... It will give you the answer surrounded by minutes, so divide by 60 to get hours if you inevitability it...

You can use either an external drive, hook it up as a "slave" inside the computer itself if you hold the slot for it (may require buying a cable and power splitter cable) or even an external cable/power supply that does not require a case (for short residence fixes)...

These cables hold an advantage surrounded by that it can be used for multiple hard drives contained by the future and is unforced to use because there is no grip involved...

If you have to try the software, do not forget to turn bad screen saver if they are on and try not to use the computer that is doing the recovery until it is finished... I own tried and it was a 50/50 shot that it would freeze and I would hold to start over... Also shut down all widen files and programs from the task fishing rod that are not needed... Usually right clicking on the statue will give you the substitute to close the program... These all use memory (most are minimal though) that can slow down your recovery... Closing programs is just a recommendation since I do not know your system configuration... One to give up open though during the recovery would be your anti-virus (I usually give notice it off during the recovery portion and turn it on after the software have found all my files and folders... I turn it support on when I begin to copy from the outdated drive to the new drive)...
