How can you recover delete files on your computer?

I've tried Recuva but it didn't find any video or music files. A lot were delete by someone else using my computer so I am very curious on how I can recover these. I know the files aren't COMPLETELY gone--otherwise FEDs couldn't find diaries and such from criminals. But are within ways to restore available to the general public?

Just curious. Have you checked your "Trash Can" They might be near.

THE ONLY WAY DATA CAN FULLY BE GONE FOREVER IS IF THE DRIVE OR PARTITION WAS FORMATED MINIMALLY 8 TIMES BEFORE STORING ANYTHING BACK to it and if recuva doesn't work is try PARTITION RECOVERY IT WORKS AMAZING

I've used undelete (http://www.diskeeper.com/undelete/undele… and have worked reasonably polite for me. There're always files that can't be recovered but this program help a lot.
