When a file is delete, only the directory entry to the record is removed, and its location is added to a list of "free space" for eventual reuse by Windows. The actual record is still there until Windows overwrites it beside a new record.
If it has not be overwritten (and that can happen anywhere from 5 second to 5 months after the file is deleted), next you can still recover it will a "file recovery" program.
The free one I enjoy found to be easiest and fastest to use is recuva, at http://recuva.com Install and run the program, it will list any delete that files that have not be overwritten yet. Find the one you want, select it, and the program will recreate the directory entry for the directory, making it usable again.
The soon you attempt the recovery, the better your odds of getting the record.
