Gateway computer recovery software?
Here's the situation. Gateway computer infected with virus and spyware. Got them all bad but some of the windows files be corrupted. Did a "sfc /scannow" with xp cd I enjoy here. Did a "chkdsk /r" from the recovery console, but problems were still in attendance. So I did a repair installation with the xp cd I hold. Now I'm stuck at log on with a "Windows Product Activation" glass. I put in the cd switch from the sticker on the side of the gateway computer but it says I "mistyped" it. I'm stuck because the individual I'm doing this for misplaced all the software that come with the computer. Any thinking??

Contact Gateway support by phone and explain your situation and they will give you a push button that will work.
Sounds like your activation code is for an OEM performance of XP. Your best option is to grasp a copy of the installation CD from Gateway. Plan B would be to buy a bright copy of XP? Hope this helps...
