IPhone is stuck surrounded by recovery mode! Software 3.0.1?
Okay, so I downloaded the 3.0.1 software update and then my iPhone have the USB and iTunes logo on the screen. It consequently tells me my phone is contained by recovery mode and I need to restore it. I click restore and after it says it is verify with the Apple server. Then it say an error occured (3014). I keep trying to do it, but equal damn error occurs. What the hell is going on?!?

I'd close to to stand alongside Rob Cooper3 in his response, although contained by this case we own a Windows XP environment. Since this cost us 5 hours of work and business calls -- I thought I would put our fix contained by for anyone it might help.
First, Rob's response be here:

The PROBLEM: This AM hubby was going to sync his iPhone, he checked for updates and be downloading one. During this, he "may have" (we are unsure) unplugged the iPhone, then plugged it subsidise in (if he did, lesson learned). Either opening, he got the "you inevitability to restore message." No way could we restore, respectively time we tried, we got the error 14 message.
NOTE: When we call iPhone the tech didn't seem at adjectives surprised that this "new update" come with problems (seems their phone lines hold been really busy!) I'm inclined to believe the problem was next to the new software.
THE FIX IN SHORT: The final fix be to do what Rob did, i.e. locate the .ipsw file, rename the extension so it be unuseable by iTunes, and then try restore again. I get a bit frantic at the end of trying to fix this problem as we be racing against the clock. If no fix until that time X o'clock, a 2-4 hour trip would have to be made to the Apple store. So...anyone frantic, no clear step-by-steps.

For anyone's use, here are my notes to self:
IN THE FUTURE BEFORE UPDATING SOFTWARE, MAKE SURE TO BACKUP THE IPHONE
(fortunately a backup be made before this software update)
After attempting the software update download, the phone eventually have an Update/restore picture appear on the front of it. We were prompted to click the iTunes "restore" (which is underneath the download option contained by the middle of the screen of iTunes.) The phone would dance through a long process to restore, but it would end beside no restore and an error 14. We tried this numerous times adjusting as follows.
These things did not work, trying to restore after respectively:
* We rebooted and retried restore
* we changed the USB plugin to the back of the computer (instead of the USB plugin surrounded by the monitor)
* we updated the iTunes software
* we exited the firewall
* finally, we went through the HARD RESET AND RECOVERY MODE RESTORE
instructions (see below), several different tries at this.
In an Apple discussions forum, we saw the possible fix of creating a unmarked user in Windows, consequently logging in as the latest user to see if that would fix it. That message begins: "Hi Jason, YES! It worked! Thank you!" and can be found here:
http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=8864405
We also saw this document: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275
The above document told how to create the bright user in Windows, so we created one, afterwards logged into Windows as that user. BEFORE we attempted the restore in iTunes contained by the new user sketch, I found this information in the above document:
If the issue is resolved by a unusual user When a restore issue is specific to a user, it is likely due to an unusable .ipsw directory. iTunes uses "ipsw" files to restore your iPod or iPhone. If those files are unusable, then try delete them so iTunes can download a new copy of them. Creating a unsullied user will also cause unusual .ipsw restore files to be downloaded in the clean user. You can find the ".ipsw" files in these locations:
C:\Documents and Settings[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates<<
Without even trying to restore as the fresh user, we logged out as the new user, next logged back into our mundane Windows account. Using Windows Explorer, we located the most recent .ipsw report by following the above mentioned path, we renamed the .ipsw record with the word "hold" surrounded by the extension so that iTunes could not use it. (iPhone1,2_3.0.1_7A400_Restore.holdipsw)…
I rebooted the machine and reentered iTunes. This is where on earth it gets watery as
I was loving of in frantic mode (Rob might own the steps in his message). I believe I held the "Home" button on the phone within for 5 seconds, next plugged the USB cable into the phone, holding for a few more seconds next releasing.
I'm not sure which I did first in iTunes:
a) click "check for updates" (or use the menu items Help/Check for updates)
OR
b) click to Restore.
Whatever I did, didn't dispense me the same problems. And...anything I did, I found myself downloading the software update again. Somehow software downloaded, restore done and then in that was an prospect to use the backup that had be made earlier. After adjectives was done, EVERYTHING be restored, we sync'd, VOILA.

HARD RESET AND RECOVERY MODE RESTORE
From here: http://forums.macrumors.com/archive/index.php/t-653276.html
Hard Reset:
1) Power iPhone on.
2) Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons for about 7 second, or until the screen turns black.
